True Confession

     After you’re saved, you still have to deal with sin on a daily basis with regard to GOD your Father. We do this through the confession of sin when we pray. Tonight, I want to speak about the very important subject of true confession when we pray. Perhaps no other word among Christians is so misunderstood as the word confess which John uses in verse 9—“If we confess our sins, He is faithful & just to forgive us our sins, & to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Some think confession just means feeling remorseful over their sin. Others conclude that it is simply regretting some sinful act. Then there are some who confuse confession with reform, in other words, they just determine to do better. None of these things are true confession.
