How To Pray When Your Faith is Small
Jacob’s prayer in Genesis chapter 32 is one of the great prayers that has been recorded in GOD’s Word. However, this prayer was made by Jacob not when his faith was great but rather when his faith was extremely weak & he was overcome with fear. Yet, he prayed to the Lord in humble honesty like the father who came to Jesus because his child was demon-possessed & sincerely cried out, “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). And just as Jesus responded to that man’s cry & delivered his child, though his faith was weak, the Lord would answer Jacob’s desperate prayer, though his faith at this time was small & struggling. Church, while this prayer is not recorded to condone weak faith, it certainly does illustrate what Jesus taught His disciples when they failed to deliver a demon-possessed child & then asked why they weren’t able to:
Mat 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as
a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall
remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
