Preparing For Christmas - Part 1
When Luke wrote his Gospel, more than 400 years had passed since Malachi’s time without a word of prophecy or any sign of a prophet of GOD. But the long wait was finally over. Great plans, devised in eternal ages past, now began to unfold in time with the announcement of John the Baptist’s birth. John the Baptist would be the fulfillment of Malachi & Isaiah’s prophecies; he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our GOD.” Simply stated, he was the preordained herald, the forerunner who was prophesied of to come & prepare the people (morally & spiritually) for the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. Thus, Luke, under inspiration, begins his Gospel by giving an introduction of John the Baptist & recounting how John came on the earthly scene because his birth & ministry was an essential part of GOD’s preparation for His Son’s first coming.
