His Suffering, Our Salvation

Mar 29, 2026    Pastor Marc Williamson

In this message from Matthew 27:26, we revisit the suffering of Christ on the road to Calvary. Before Jesus was crucified, He was scourged, mocked by Roman soldiers, clothed in a scarlet robe, crowned with thorns, and led away to die. Yet none of this happened apart from the will of God. Christ willingly endured every blow, every insult, and every sorrow so that sinners could be redeemed.

This sermon highlights the chastisement of the Roman scourge, the scornful coronation of Christ, and the saving purpose of His crucifixion. It also points to the deeper meaning of His suffering: He bore the curse, carried our sin, endured rejection, and drank the bitter cup of divine wrath so that we might have peace with God.

His suffering was not accidental. It was redemptive. His suffering was the means of our salvation.
