The Shortcut to Sorrow

When God seems slow, our flesh gets loud. Genesis 16 shows Abraham and Sarai “helping” God—Sarai’s plan, Hagar’s pain, Abraham’s passivity—and the chain reaction that followed: pride, jealousy, harshness, and flight. Yet right in the wilderness, El Roi—“the God who sees me”—finds Hagar, speaks hope, and directs her steps.
