A Spiritual Self-Evaluation

Jan 8, 2023    Pastor Marc Williamson

Throughout his letter to the church at Corinth, Paul subjected himself & his ministry to the people’s scrutiny. Now he handed the magnifying glass to the Corinthians, with the challenge that they perform a self-examination of their own selves, of their own lives. Paul’s challenge was for the people to look at their own behavior, their attitudes, & their actions to see if they were truly saved, if they were truly in the faith. True salvation will produce verifiable fruit that can be examined to prove that Jesus Christ truly indwells a person. You see, if Jesus Christ is in a person, if someone is truly saved, then there will be a desire to obey their indwelling Lord’s will, there will be a love for the Lord, there will be a hunger for righteousness, there will be a love for the family of GOD, & there will be conviction & chastening in one’s life when sin is present. To refuse to self-examine would not only be disobedience to GOD’s Word, but also potentially disastrous because a reprobate, one who’s faith is rejected & disapproved, will discover that their salvation profession is a sham when it is too late. Paul was clear, every professing believer should give themself a sober evaluation.
