The Danger of False Repentance

In our last message, we saw how that GOD gave Jeremiah a message for King Zedekiah when Nebuchadnezzar & his army invaded Judah with the intention of crushing the nation once & for all. The message was that Zedekiah’s resistance against Babylon would not succeed. GOD had already determined to give the nation into the hand of the king of Babylon, who would burn Jerusalem to the ground. Though Zedekiah would try to flee the city when it became evident that Jerusalem would fall, he would not escape. Instead, he would see the enemy, the king of Babylon, & speak with him eye to eye & be judged for his rebellion against Nebuchadnezzar. Zedekiah would be taken captive to Babylon as punishment for his rebellion. But GOD promised Zedekiah that he would not die at peace rather than the sword. In other words, he’d die of natural causes while a captive in a foreign land. Friends, everything Jeremiah predicted came to pass because he preached not his own words, but rather the Word of GOD.
