Because Judah was GOD’s covenant people, the majority of Jeremiah’s prophetic activity was directed & addressed to it. Jeremiah’s prophecies concerning the nation of Judah are grouped together in chapters 2–45. However, the other nations of the world did not escape GOD’s eye. If GOD would judge His own covenant people for their sin, did the heathen nations around Judah think they would escape GOD’s wrath when their sins were even more obvious & openly practiced with no shame or fear of GOD? Well, in chapters 46–51, Jeremiah, a prophet ordained by GOD unto the nations, shifts the spotlight of GOD’s judgment from Judah to her Gentile neighbors.
