Jesus’ Resurrection Power
In this message from our JESUS series (Section 2, Part 25), Pastor Marc Williamson teaches from Luke 7:11–17, where Jesus raises the widow’s son at Nain. This powerful miracle reveals Christ’s authority over death, His deep compassion for human suffering, and the truth that Jesus is more than a prophet—He is God in human flesh.
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus demonstrates His power over nature, demons, and disease. But in this passage we see something even greater: Jesus displays His resurrection power by raising the dead. When the Lord encounters a grieving widow whose only son has died, He interrupts a funeral procession and transforms a house of mourning into a place of rejoicing.
This miracle shows us several profound truths about Christ:
The sovereign timing of God in every circumstance
The compassion of Jesus toward the brokenhearted
The authority of Christ over life and death
The hope of resurrection for those who believe in Him
The raising of the widow’s son points forward to the ultimate victory over death found in Jesus Christ, the Resurrection and the Life.
John 11:25–26 (KJV)
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
If you are searching for answers about who Jesus truly is, the Gospels were written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through His name (John 20:31).
